About me
I am a poet and a trainee psychotherapist with BA in Psychology from Wellesley College, USA and MRes in English Literature from the University of York, UK.
Born in Poland, I started writing poetry in early childhood and won many national poetry competitions. My writing appeared in numerous magazines and anthologies, including a Polish magazine in Cape Town. My first poetry collection Pytania bezsennych nocy (English title: Questions of sleepless nights) came out in 2018.
When I moved to the UK, I set up a creative writing group in the city centre of Manchester. This was also when I started writing in English and developed my interests in translation. In my poetry, I explore themes of displacement, identity, and nostalgia – all part of the immigrant experience. My writing has been published in many magazines and journals. I was also shortlisted for the Bridport Prize in Poetry. You can find the full list of my publications here.
Besides creative writing, I have always been interested in literary research, focusing on the connection between psychology and literature. My MA research project explored how we could use gestalt theory of perception to examine modernist coming-of-age novels by James Joyce and Virginia Woolf.
Since 2020, I have worked for various academic publishers, such as Oxford University Press and Frontiers.
